Warm Textiles

Australia has a thriving agriculture industry, which means we are spoilt for choice when it comes to wool. And that’s fab, because wool and other soft, warm textiles are a must-have to accessorise your living spaces this Autumn.

From wool throws, to woven blankets or tweed cushions, these textiles add richness, depth and texture to the room – and pair beautifully with terracotta and other earthy elements.

Textiles are not limited to just soft furnishings either. A woven wall hanging, for instance, or detailed wallpaper creates atmosphere and ambience.

Autumn is perfect time to replace those breezy sheer summer curtains to something a little more adept at keeping out the winter cold. Intricate, dense fabrics in deep autumnal hues keep the warmth in and set the scene for a cosy night in on the couch.

Try to work with an autumnal colour palette – opt for deep plums, rusty reds, burnt orange, forest green, golds and browns. Jewel tones make a statement, replacing summer pastels. Vibrant purple, shiny metallic and sparkly features are reminiscent of royalty, as well as the infinite cosmos and clouds. Teamed with a subtle neutral colour scheme, such as white walls, jewel tones are a gorgeous addition to the 2017 autumnal palette.

Autumn colours can be introduced inexpensively through accessories such as wall art, rugs, cushions, bed linen, dinnerware, vases, table ornaments, small kitchen counter appliances and lamp shades. Embrace the change of season and mix up your look a little this Autumn.
